1. Where and how is Rush Jewelry made?

All RJD jewelry is made in New York City.  Some pieces I personally work on at the bench, and others are produced by talented craftsmen. Whether at my own bench or someone else’s, I supervise the work from top to bottom making sure each piece is perfect as if it were my own.

2. How are the stones chosen and where do they come from?

My design process generally begins with the stone first. If it's special and beautiful I buy it. The color, the cut, or some other unique characteristic has to “wow” me, because if it's not spectacular, why bother? After I purchase the stone, I construct the piece. Most of my work is one of a kind - I can almost never replicate an item. I might be able to recreate something similar but it will never be exactly the same.  This is what’s great about RJD - you will never see yourself coming and going.

I have several amazing sources for stones, all of whom I trust. My stones are always ethically sourced, and whenever possible I use stones that have not been treated in any way. There are some exceptions -- for example: generally accepted industry standards such as beryllium enhancement (BE) for orange stones or heat for sapphire melee.  I will NEVER use material that is dyed.

3. What customization options are available?

For the Signature Collection and a few other pieces, customization or semi-customization is available. Certain pieces in the Signature Collection can be made with the addition of stones. Clients often ask to add diamonds or sapphires, which I can source in any color.  All pieces can be made in white or yellow gold. I do not work with any gold lower than 18K and I do not offer casting in any other metals.
